Rickslyn Myers Challenges Comedians to Raise Standards Amid Cross-Dressing Backlash
Liberian social influencer Rickslyn Myers is once again shaking the table—and this time, her target is comedians like “Pejim55”, who recently posted a video fully dressed and made up as a woman for comedic effect.
Myers didn’t hold back. She shared the clip and called out the growing trend of male comedians relying on wigs, dresses, makeup, and exaggerated femininity just to get laughs. According to her, this style of comedy has crossed into what she calls “bad bacteria behavior.” In her view, the overuse of cross-dressing is not only unoriginal but a sign that the craft is losing creativity.
For those who don’t know, Ms. Myers is one of Liberia’s most outspoken and influential social voices. She has starred in movies, collaborated musically with artists like “Bucky Raw”, and built one of the strongest social media followings in the Liberian entertainment space. When she speaks, people pay attention—whether they agree with her or not.
Her argument is simple:
If you’re truly funny, you don’t need to constantly dress like a woman to prove it.
Comedy should evolve past wigs and skirts as the default punchline.
Liberia has too much talent for comedians to be stuck in this one-note joke.
By calling out Pejim55 and others, Myers is pushing for higher standards and pushing comedians to rely more on “wit, storytelling, and originality”, instead of turning femininity into a costume every time they want to go viral.
Whether people see it as tough love or controversy, one thing is clear: Rickslyn Myers’ voice continues to shape conversations in Liberia’s entertainment scene, and this latest call-out has everyone talking.
